Happy Birthday Kelsey!!

My baby turned 2!! Yikes! Time is just racing by. As usual, we had to decide when to celebrate her birthday since this leap-year baby doesn't have her own real day. But since March 1st was a Saturday, we settled on that since Kenny would be home. I feel really bad about the timing of her birthday. She seems to always have a whole lot of other things going on that day and last year I know we totally dropped the ball with her. This year I woke Kenny up early with me and we made sure the house was decorated and balloons blown up just like we do for all the kids. When she came downstairs with everyone else we started singing "Happy Birthday" and she was so happy. She kept pointing to herself and asking, "Me?! Me?!" All the times we've been singing that lately and it's finally directed at her! :) Unfortunately, just like last year we had a busy day scheduled. Luckily she doesn't mind, or know any different. We started off by fulfilling our assignment of cleaning the church. They really liked being in charge of dusting. Also helped with picking up trash, and rearranging hymn books.

It conveniently overlapped with a primary activity that was going on from 10-11. Once that got done we went over to watch Iditarod! (See the last post)
Then we went out to lunch at McDonald's which I swear I will not eat at for another year. It's so gross to me. We were in Wasilla for the remainder of the afternoon for something which I'll discuss later. Of course we had to stop at Costco before going home since we were out of a lot of bare necessities for our kitchen. The outing to the valley also disrupted nap time, and neither Madison nor Kelsey slept at all that day. Judging by their attitudes I knew it was safest to just stay home that night and not try to do anything too extreme. (Like go out in public...) She had a nice bath, and I made some macaroni and cheese with applesauce (Kelsey's favorites) for dinner. She opened up a couple of presents (a new outfit and a new book). Then we had donuts and homemade smoothie-popsicles, since she doesn't like cake.
She was so funny and didn't let us get through singing happy birthday before blowing out her candles. So I lit them again and tried to explain that we wait till the end of the song and then blow them out. Well sure enough, half way through she once again blew them out! hahaha. We were all laughing but decided to just finish the song and let her dig in.

Oh boy we sure love our Kelsey boo. She makes everybody laugh so much every day with her cuteness. Even when she's being a stinker we all find it completely adorable (which is obviously problematic). She will not go to nursery without a screaming fight, and starts crying as soon as Sacrament mtg. ends because she knows what's next. She's obsessed with electronics and thinks she has just as much right to my phone or the iPad as I do--it's a daily battle. I try to keep them hidden. For some reason she really loves Nemo, and assigns us all characters. She often says, "I'm Nemo!" And she says I'm Dori, and daddy is Marlin. :) She's very attached to me still. She is so good at giving hugs and snuggles. She still wakes up almost every single night which drives me crazy. She never smiles normally for the camera, and is always cheesing it. She love love loves books and puzzles. Her hair is curly and crazy, and she never leaves it in when I do it. She loves to be outside and tries to do what her siblings do. We simply cannot imagine life without her and we're so blessed to have her in our family. Happy Birthday Kels!
