France Trip Day 4 - March 14

We had a rough night's sleep. I would wake up a lot both because of jet lag and being uncomfortable. But that's okay. After breakfast we checked out of there and started driving to Carcasonne. We decided we would just stop and see what we wanted. We found a cool medieval bridge that we stopped at in Cahors.

Can you see Kenny and Andrew up there?

For lunch we decided to go to a Carre-four grocery store and just bought some meats, different kinds of cheeses, and baguettes (plus macaroons and a lot of other cookies/candy...). Andrew found a nice place for us to have a "pique-nique" and we stopped and ate. It was yummy. Oh I do miss all those wonderful cheeses for so cheap!!

We kept driving and came upon this super cool town called Cordes sur Ciel. Originally just Cordes (built in like the 1200's!!!) but because it's so high up and at certain times the clouds hover just under it making the city look like it's floating in the sky. Hence the "sur Ciel" or "in the sky". It's all built on crazy steep hills, and of course it's all made of stone again. It's a huge attraction for artists these days and not too big except for tourists anymore. But it used to be a really populated city.

Everyone still has these heavy-duty-fortress doors. I'm thinking of getting one for our home. Very inviting don't you think? ;)

Kenny "pretending" to be worn out from the many steps and hills :).

Then we got back in the car and kept driving (surprise! haha) to a town called Albi where we went to la Cathedrale de Saint-Cecile. It was so beautiful. Every single inch was covered or painted or somehow decorated. Did a little audio tour there which is always better than just looking around yourself. You learn a lot more and appreciate more what you're seeing.

From there we continued on our way to Carcasonne. We once again had a hard time finding our B&B, until we realized it was inside the walled city, "Le cite". It was so dang cool. We ate dinner at Le Brasserie de Donjon that had a very medieval yet modern theme. We ate their famous local food, cassoulet. It's a soupy mixture with duck, sausage and white beans. It was very good!
