Campbell Creek Science Center

On Monday we had to go back into Anchorage to sign contracts and stuff with our new tenants. (What a blessing that we found some so quickly! We only missed one day of rent!) We decided to head in a few hours early and go to Campbell Creek Science Center. I'm very embarrassed to admit that it was the first time we'd been there! We used to live only a few minutes away from it and it was just one of those things we never did get to. I know there's a lot more to that place and we only got a small glimpse, but we really loved it and hope to go back again. We rented out one of their backpacks, they have different kits you can check out for a few hours and then return when you're done exploring. This one was the bug-catching kit. It had nets in there, 4 bug catching jars with magnifying glasses for lids, and a laminated flip-chart to help you identify the bugs you catch. It was fun walking through the forest looking for bugs, but definitely the highlight was at the creek catching minnows. Good thing we didn't start there or we would have never made it anywhere else. It was a great way to kill time, have a "science lesson", and enjoy nature!

Briggs just crawled around got filthy dirty :)
